| Chandigarh also named as city beautiful is the capital
of two states Punjab and Haryana of India. Chandigarh city is the
first planned city of India. Chandigarh is know for its architecture
and urban planning. Chandigarh city is well connected to rest of India
via roads, railway and air. Chandigarh city is located close to the
foothills of the Shivalik range of the Himalayas. Chandigarh has highest number of vehicles per person in India. Chandigarh was the first city in India to have banned smoking in public places this order came into force on 15 July, 2007. Chandigarh city is 238 kms from Delhi, 217 from Amritsar, 119 kms from Shimla, 100 kms from Ludhiana, 46 kms from Ambala and Patiala. So its close by to Delhi, Shimla, Ludhiana, Ambala, Patiala and Amritsar.
